Vanderbilt University settles 403(b) lawsuit for $14.5 million

In the wave of litigation against universities for their 403(b) plan, there were several victories by universities and some notable settlements in favor of aggrieved plaintiffs and their ERIS litigators.

Vanderbilt University just settled for the largest amount so far in these cases. Their cost: $14.5 million, which is a half-million more than John Hopkins settled for in the summer.

The attorneys for the plaintiffs in this class action lawsuit, Schlichter Bogard & Denton LLP and Hawkins Hogan PLC – will receive no more than $4,833,333, as well as reimbursement for costs incurred of no more than $225,000.
