Thanks to COVID, the movie business has been dying and especially the theater chains like AMC and Regal. To compound the problem, HBO Max made all their 2021 movies released in the theater, available for 30 days.
As an HBO Max subscriber (because I have an HBO subscription), it’s fantastic. As for the movie business, it’s not. Wonder Woman 1984, In The Heights, and Godzilla vs. Kong are just some of the movies that I’ve watched at home, instead of the theaters at no extra cost. Disney +, on the other hand, is going to make me fork over $30 to watch Black Widow and any of their new theater releases.
I understand the need to build up the subscriber base for HBO Max, it did a disservice for the movie and theater business. By the way, looking forward to seeing Suicide Squad and The Many Saints of Newark at home.
