I have been a baseball fan since I was 7 in 1979 when the next-door neighbor was heavily involved in the local Little League. Became a Mets fan in 1984 because I was tired of George Steinbrenner firing Billy Martin (that probably bit me in the rear end in the World Series department). I rarely went to games because my father hated baseball. I went to one game with him in 1987 only because his business partner got tickets. When the Mets made the playoffs in 1986 and 1988, I knew not to ask for tickets because I knew what the answer would be.

My son is a big baseball fan, probably a bigger Mets fan than I’ve ever been. To be the father I wanted, I’ve had a lot of wonderful memories of Mets games and for my son, games at 24 MLB ballparks. Thanks to hosting an event this past season, I was given a chance at playoff tickets. I have a strip of tickets that included Game 4 of the Division Series against the Phillies. It was the Mets’ first series-clinching win at CitiField and it was extra special against the Phillies. As I say, I’ve had a lot more great memories as a father than as a kid, it helps break the cycle.
